Broga Hill in Malaysia

Broga is a small town that is located approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour journey away from Kuala Lumpur. It has a quite popular climbing hill called Broga Hill that is quite familiar among locals. It is very suitable for everyone that want to escape from all the traffic jams and crowds. It would be a perfect journey and trip to get some fresh air and beautiful views in this countryside.

I started to climb at around 5:30pm to catch up with the sunrise but people who just want to go for exercise preferably start to climb at 7am. It may be crowded during weekend. The journey up to the hill is not overly steep.

After I reached up to the hill, there was already number of people at there and some of them are families, couples and even solo hikers. Everyone felt quite amazed and enthusiastic with the environment.

The sunrise was really worth for everyone to climb up to the peak but it also depends on everyday's weather. Before visit Broga Hill, visitors can check through Google and see whether it suits to climb on that day as sometimes it might be cloudy. 

The journey could take up to 45 minutes to reach the peak but it also depends on everyone's fitness level. Furthermore, please avoid to climb during raining day as it will be too muddy and slippery especially around the steepest sections.

- Torchlight

- Water and some energy bars 

- Camera and handphone for the breathtaking views

- Money (RM3) for parking, toilet and climbing fee

A Journey to Batu Cave

About Batu Cave: 

It is a well-known tourist spot in Malaysia among Hindu community and popular for its gigantic golden statue of Lord Murugan, the Hindu God of War. The Murugan Statue is the largest and tallest Hindu deity statue in the country as it is standing at 140 feet tall. Besides that, Batu Caves have been ritual for years and at the centre of Hindu pilgrimages. Ritual is piercing as an act of penance and it is called Thaipusam.

On my way up to the Cave temple, 272 steps

Furthermore, there would be monkeys on the way up the stairs. Those monkeys always go to the places where they find their food. There is a whole colony of monkeys living in the caves that visitors would always feed them. 

Inside the Batu Caves

It is an actual temple where Hindus congregate regularly despite being a major tourist attraction and there was another flight of stairs which led us to the sacred temple of Batu Caves. There was a gigantic cave opening right above the temple which allowed natural light to shine on it. It is really a remarkable sight.

Once reached the top, it is called Cathedral Cave or Temple Cave. When you see from the bottom, it just like a ceiling that also with a whole that leads up to the sky and jungle. 

Overall, the cave is amazing with all the gigantic and colourful Hindu god statues right outside the cave. It really worth to climb up the 272 steps to enjoy this impressive cave and view, it absolutely a good experience for visitors.     

Batu Caves Dress Code

The dress code is somewhat strict and they have people right at the entrance to check and girls are not allowed to in when the bottoms are too short or too revealing. It required to have a proper and suitable attire as this is a religious site. Visitors could rent sarong to cover up in case they are wearing bottoms that are too short.

Way to Batu Caves: 13km north of Kuala Lumpur How to get there: Take Intrakota bus No 11D from the Central Market or the Cityliner bus No 69 at Jalan Pudu to get to Batu Caves. Taxis are also available anywhere around city.
